Safety Changes at CFHS

At the start of the 2017-2018 school year, students and guests will see that there have been some significant changes made over the summer. Please take the time now to review these changes in order to help make a smooth transition and help avoid confusion on the first days of school. If you have any questions please contact the high school at 330-926-3808.

Main Entrance Change

  • The main entrance of the school has moved to the doors directly south of the current main entrance off the front loop. These doors are currently known as the “nurse’s doors” or simply as the side entrance to the auditorium with the awning.  The purpose of creating a new main entrance is to increase school safety.

Visitor Protocol Change

  • All visitors will now need to show a current driver's license when entering the high school. Licenses will be scanned and processed to ensure our students’ safety. Every guest entering CFHS will now be provided with a time-sensitive temporary identification label with his or her photo on it.

Visitor Parking

  • Due to safety concerns, at the beginning of the year we will begin to strictly enforce the 5 minute parking signs in the front loop. All visitors and guests that will be visiting for more than 5 minutes will be required to park in the visitor parking lot on Stow Street and then walk in front of the auditorium to the new main entrance.

Traffic Pattern Change

  • The front loop of the school will no longer be the primary drop-off area for students. The front loop will be closed every day until 8:00 a.m. Once opened, the loop will remain open throughout the school day until one hour before the end of the school day. At that point, the front loop will remain closed until the next morning at 8:00 a.m.

  • Parents will be asked to drop off  or pick up their students on Stow Street or Thomas Court. Please note the previous main entrance of the school will be closed and will no longer be a priority entrance or exit before or after school.

  • Students parking in the secondary lot across the street from the Natatorium will enter and exit the school by using the crosswalk and then the sidewalk of Thomas Court by the CFHS Greenhouse. We request that parents no longer park on 4th Street to pick up their children after school. Students are reminded to always use a crosswalk when crossing any street.

  • Any staff or student that uses a parking pass to park in the primary lot directly behind CFHS will enter and exit this lot directly from 6th Street. Please note that the Stow Street parking lot entrances will be closed so that there will be less traffic for students being dropped off at school.

Building Hours and Procedures for Students

  • School starts promptly at 7:45 a.m. every day. The doors of CFHS will be unlocked for students to enter the building starting at 7:15 a.m. No student is permitted to be unsupervised in the building prior to this time. Students are expected to leave the building by 3:05 p.m. every day unless they are meeting with an official club, organization or sports team of the school.

  • Students that are late to school will need to enter the building through the new main entrance. Students will now be required to use their student ID’s to scan themselves in upon their arrival. Please note that all students using a “Flex Pass,” as well as our career students, will need to scan in and out of the new main entrance of the building. All students attending CFHS will now be required to carry their school ID with them at all times.
